I have a degree in Fine Art and since my art college days have taught in the UK and Cairo.

At last I have time to develop my own ideas. I work mainly in textiles and most of my work is created on cotton or silk fabric using wax resist or gutta with fibre reactive dyes. Although I use many traditional tools and techniques I try to push the boundaries of the batik and silk painting processes through experimentation and using a variety of media to create my pieces.

I have a passion for colour and find inspiration in the natural and manmade worlds. I usually start with photographs and drawings but resolve my ideas directly on the cloth as the dyes start to flow and mix. Dyes, unlike paint penetrate and become part of the cloth giving vibrancy and brilliance to colour.

I hope you enjoy visiting my website.
